Liverpool ‘looking to buy’ La Liga team in efforts to expand club network

Many teams already have multi-club networks

The news comes as reported by The Times who say that the search was undertaken by FSG's chief executive of football Michael Edwards, FSG technical director Julian Ward and director of football development Pedro Marques.

Liverpool had previously held talks to take over French side Girondins de Bordeaux who had fallen into financial difficulties, however, the deal fell through and the club entered administration and went bankrupt.

Now FSG are looking elsewhere, notably Spain, where Getafe are of interest to The Reds.

The club, based in the suburbs of Madrid, offer a much more stable club, spending the last eight seasons, even making it into Europe on the odd occasion.

Furthermore, the club is undergoing a stadium renovation to modernise the Estadio Coliseum and will have a 19,000 capacity.
