After waiting months for Naby Keïta to arrive after his signing from RB Leipzig was confirmed back in January, Liverpool fans finally got their first taste of watching their new number 8 in a competitive match this afternoon.
The all action midfielder was heavily involved in play from the first minute, and played a key pass inthe build up to Mohamed Salah's opening goal in the 19th minute.
The reaction was nothing short of extraordinary, as fans watching at home took to Twitter to gush over their new signing. And with reason.
One Twitter user, AnfieldRd96, didn't hold back, saying "I'm in love with Naby Keïta". It has not yet been confirmed whether the sentiment is reciprocated.
Other fans compared the midfielder to Luka Modrić, one called him a 'footballing angel', and another claimed that he was already the best player in the Premier League.
Some of these comments will have been made tongue-in-cheekly, but the excitement surrounding their new signing is real, amd justifiably so.
