Leicester fan with £250,000 title bet misses out on big money cashing out BEFORE Watford win

He still won a huge amount of cash...

Leicester fans sitting on big money bets are throwing in the towel left, right and centre.

Even though the Foxes are still bookies’ favourites to make history by winning the league, nervy punters are cashing in their chips now.

There have been more and more high profile cash-ins by punters who bet on Claudio Ranieri’s side to do the impossible at the start of the season at odds of 5000/1.

There was student Nathan Finlow who cashed in for £1600 and then John Pryke who called it a day on his £100,000 bet to take £29,000 off the bookies.

But a mystery Ladbrokes punter who stuck £50 on the Foxes back in August chose to take the money and run on a potential £250,000 monster win with just nine games left.

The anonymous punter triumphantly walked away with £72,335 just hours before Ranieri’s side faced Watford.

“I read the papers on Saturday morning and thought it’s time to cash out,” he said.

“Win or lose the league, I’m looking forward to the rest of the season ahead. It will mean so much if we win, so there’s no point in being greedy.

“I’ll be celebrating tonight hopefully after beating Watford. A holiday to Spain is a certainty followed by paying off the mortgage with the winnings.”

Except Leicester then went on to beat Watford and cement their place at the summit of the table.

The decision to cash out before the victory cost him just short of £20,000, according to the Daily Mirror.

After Riyad Mahrez’s winning goal bookies would have cashed out for £91,322. We’re pretty sure that all that free money will make him feel better though.
