LeBron James offers to play for Liverpool on their pre-season US tour

Maybe he fancies a new challenge?

We reckon he’d make a beast of a central defender.

Now that Martin Skrtel is finally set to seal his move to Fenerbahce, Liverpool could probably use a bit more defensive cover and it looks like they’ve found the perfect man.

LeBron James has offered his services to Jurgen Klopp and, given the Reds’ issues from set pieces over the last couple of seasons it’s probably not a bad idea to throw all 6ft 8in of the Cleveland Cavalier into the backline.

Posting a picture of a Liverpool shirt with ‘Lebron – 6’ on the back, James offers a shout out to ‘Coach Klopp’ before adding ‘if you need to walk on, I got your back.’

James is a minority shareholder in Liverpool Football Club, having bought a stake in 2011, and visited Anfield the same year for a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

James recently played his part in guiding the Cavs to their first NBA Championship win. Having trailed Golden State Warriors 3-1 in the best of seven playoffs series, their 93-89 win in the final game was enough to take the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

Perhaps he’s now ready for a new challenge?
