Real Madrid give PSG ultimatum over Mbappe

Mum’s the word

Kylian Mbappe’s mum has confirmed that the Paris Saint-Germain striker is in talks with the club over signing a new contract, suggesting that they are “going well”.

It was only earlier this week that Mbappe himself had revealed that he wanted to leave PSG in the summer but according to his mother, Fayza Lamari, it seems that his departure may not be set in stone.

The 22-year-old has constantly been linked with a move to Real Madrid and with his contract up at the end of this season, wanted to leave in the summer so that his club could get a transfer fee, but in an interview with Le Parisien she said: “We are in talks with PSG right now and it’s going well.

“I even spoke to Leonardo [PSG’s sporting director] last night (Monday). But will we reach an outcome? One thing is sure: he will give his all right up until the end to win the Champions League.”

The opinion doesn’t only go against what Mbappe said, with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez suggesting that the Frenchman could join the Spanish giants in the upcoming winter transfer window saying: In January we will have news from Mbappe.”

Perez then went on to retract his statement claiming he had been “misinterpreted.”

As it stands, it is still expected that Real Madrid will make a move for Mbappe. Whether that is in January or the summer remains to be seen, but the talks of a new contract may be used by PSG to lure Madrid paying a larger sum of money than they would ideally like to.

In the summer window, the La Liga league leaders offered €160 million, which was turned down straight away, with reports from The Athletic claiming that a second bid of €180 million was never actually made.
