Kell Brook’s trainer alludes to Nick Blackwell fight in attacking “ignorant” Chris Eubank Jr

Chris Eubank Jr has come in for plenty of criticism for his comments made in the aftermath of Kell Brook's defeat to Gennady Golovkin, and it's showing no signs of letting up.

The British middleweight champion responded to Brook's defeat with a misjudged assertion that "my corner don't own towels," leading to a heated response from those who had witnessed 'Special K' suffer a broken eye socket. Brook's trainer, Dominic Ingle, pulled the Sheffield fighter in the fifth round when his vision became impaired, handing Golovkin victory by TKO. And Ingle has seemed to suggest a reluctance for Eubank Jr to consider things beyond the W-L record may have contributed to him leaving opponent Nick Blackwell in intensive care earlier this year. Blackwell was placed in an induced coma after the March bout, and expressed his disappointment in his opponent after recovering and announcing his retirement from boxing.   "I've had 30 years' experience in boxing. I have been in hundreds of title fights, I have got plenty of knowledge and I have seen the worst-case scenarios," Ingle told talkSPORT. “It is just ironic that Chris Eubank and his father were both in fights where fighters were critically injured. It just shows their ignorance," he added, in what appears to be a reference to the Blackwell bout and Chris Eubank Sr's title fight with Michael Watson in 1991 which ended with his opponent suffering life-changing injuries. "Fighters will always fight to the death. Sometimes that is their undoing," Ingle continued. "It is down to the trainer with responsibility to realise sometimes you have to live to fight another day." Read more
