Jurgen Klopp rules himself out of England job

He continues to take a prolonged break

Gareth Southgate announced his resignation yesterday and since then the likes of Eddie Howe, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino and Klopp have subsequently all been linked with the post.

The FA wanted to extend Southgate's contract, however after after eight years in the role he leaves with his head held high having reached back-to-back Euros finals.

During Southgate's tenure the Three Lions came agonisingly close twice to Euros glory against Italy and then Spain.

However now according to the Telegraph, a brief potential replacement in Klopp has been completely ruled out.

Despite the Three Lions job surely remaining an enticing one for all managers, Klopp remains committed to taking a prolonged break of at least 12 months before returning to management.

Upon leaving Liverpool, Klopp announced these plans and there will be no U-turn.

Thereby, England would have to start their qualifying games for the 2026 World Cup way before Klopp would even consider the role.

Even then, it would still remain up in the air.

In terms of a temporary solution, it would most likely to be an interim manager appointed, with U21's boss Lee Carsley the most likely candidate.
