Jose Mourinho criticises Tottenham players after dropping points at Wolves

Mourinho pointed the finger at his players after the draw at Molineux

Jose Mourinho has questioned his Tottenham players’ ambition after his side dropped points against Wolves on – *checks to see what day it is* – Sunday evening.

Spurs had taken a lead inside the opening minute at Molineux through Tanguy Ndombele, but rarely threatened after this point, their defence sitting deeper and deeper as the game progressed. Wolves eventually scored a deserved equaliser through Roman Saïss with a few minutes remaining.

Mourinho, who is of course never to blame for any of this side’s failings, was left bitterly disappointed.

“I am frustrated with the result, we had control of game, we had 89 minutes to score more goals and we didn’t,” he said after the game. “It’s not just about not scoring but also not being dangerous and ambitious and for me that’s the problem.

“It is a concern. The fact we score early goals and we don’t kill matches. We must score another, it’s as simple as that. Even defending very well, which we did as a team, that is not enough. Even if we had done that and we won 1-0, my feeling would be the same.”

Tottenham had looked like genuine title contenders before falling to defeat at Anfield the other week. This was followed by a loss at home to Leicester City. More dropped points will raise questions as to whether Spurs really are capable of mounting a serious charge for the league.

Mourinho will hope his side return to winning ways – or at the very least show a bit more ambition – when they host Fulham in a London derby on – *checks what day it is again* – Wednesday.
