Jordan Henderson’s exchange with Loris Karius did not go unnoticed

Karius' celebrations were cut short

Jordan Henderson was not about to get carried away with the celebrations after Liverpool secured a place in the Champions League final.

The Reds will travel to Kiev to take on Real Madrid at the end of this month after a dramatic 7-6 aggregate semi-final victory over Roma.

Liverpool may have lost 4-2 in the second leg at the Stadio Olimpico but their 5-2 win last week gave them enough breathing room to squeeze into the final.

Club captain Jordan Henderson spoke for many supporters when he commented on the side’s tendency to do things the hard way.

“We never do it the easy way unfortunately. It was an amazing effort,” Henderson said after the game.

“In the first half we did well and scored some good goals. Overall we handled the situation well apart from the last 10 minutes. We need to stop that but I’m delighted we’re in the final.”

Goalkeeper Loris Karius didn’t have his greatest game in a Liverpool shirt, parrying a relatively tame shot right into the path of Edin Dzeko, who made it 2-2 on the night.

Conceding four goals is always going to lead to criticism and the German ‘keeper got an absolute earful from Henderson as the team celebrated the sound of the final whistle.
