Finally, some good news for Liverpool.

Following the Reds' miserable FA Cup exit to Aston Villa on Sunday, Jordan Henderson has apparently lifted some of the gloom by committing to a new five-year contract. Aston Villa v Liverpool - FA Cup Semi-Final The Daily Mail report that Henderson will put pen to paper on a revised £100,000-a-week deal in the next few days, ending speculation that he could be on his way to Manchester City in the summer. It should come as a boost to beleaguered boss Brendan Rodgers, who has had to fend off rumours concerning a number of his stars in recent weeks - Raheem Sterling chief among them. Henderson has been promoted to Liverpool's vice-captain this season after being described by Rodgers as the "moral compass" of the squad, and is expected to take the armband when Steven Gerrard leaves for LA Galaxy.
