The teenager had played for Kent Football United prior to her diagnosis in November
Former Charlton goalkeeper Jordan Dawes has died aged 18.
Dawes had been diagnosed with liver cancer last November after suffering a stroke.
Prior to her diagnosis, she had been playing for Kent Football United this season, helping them reach the first round of the FA Cup in October.
‘We are heartbroken beyond heartbroken,’ a statement from Dawes’ family read.
‘She had so much life to live. Never stop loving and hugging your beautiful children as it’s a cruel world out there.’

Both Kent Football United and Charlton acknowledged the sad news on Twitter, Kent also announcing that they would be retiring the number one jersey in her memory.

Dawes had received numerous messages of support over the last few weeks, with Manchester United number one David De Gea, Chelsea’s Fran Kirby and Manchester United Women manager Casey Stoney amongst those to wish her well.
Since it emerged that she had been battling cancer, a crowdfunding page was set up to help pay for her treatment. Over £8,000 was raised in donations, surpassing the original target of £1,000.
