John Terry is close to joining Aston Villa, reports claim

Definitely not playing for Chelsea again...

Simon Lloyd

John Terry really has left Chelsea this time. Honest.

The tearful farewell speech he delivered to the Stamford Bridge at the back end of last season might not have been his first, but it does now seem to have been in his last.

Why? Well, it seems one club man JT is close to joining his second club.

Despite rumours of money-spinning moves to America and the Chinese Super League and talk of a move down the M4 to Swansea, it seems the former England skipper could be plying his trade in the Championship next season with Aston Villa.

According to a report in The Sun, Terry has recently enjoyed a round of golf in Portugal with Villa boss Steve Bruce, and is said to be motivated by the idea of helping the club return to the top flight.

Villa, who were relegated from the Premier League in 2016, finished 13th in the second tier last season, despite a big January overhaul. Although it’s claimed that owner Toni Xia expects Bruce to sell players before they can buy this summer, it’s reported that he’s willing to put together a package to secure the services of Terry.

If a move goes ahead, we sincerely hope Villa have something nice planned for the 26th minute of his debut.
