Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has dismissed manager John Carver after just four wins in 20 games in charge.
Ashley seemed to disagree with the 50-year-old's claim that he was "The best coach in the Premier League".
In fairness, the middle of an eight-match losing run was probably not the best time to make such an assertion.
The signs were there for a while, with Carver's limited grasp of the three points for a win rule a particular highlight.
It would have been nice to sack him, but the most important thing was to dismiss him from his job.
