We have seen a number of talented centre-backs enjoy breakout Premier League seasons for some of the competition's top clubs.

While new signings like Virgil van Dijk and Ramiro Funes Mori have impressed for Southampton and Everton respectively, we asked JOE readers to choose between four other talented centre-backs. Smalling was a popular choice, with the England man given plenty of credit for Manchester United's defensive solidity.

 

But not everyone was convinced.

Sakho was a popular choice, and will surely be missed by Liverpool during his time on the sidelines.
