Jerzy Dudek’s all-time XI features the best of Liverpool and Real Madrid

No Florent Sinama Pongolle, sadly...

It’s a pretty impressive line-up.

Jerzy Dudek has named his all-time XI of former teammates for this month’s edition of Four Four Two, and it’s packed full of Liverpool and Real Madrid legends.

The Polish goalkeeper spent six years at Anfield, and was famously between the sticks when Liverpool beat AC Milan on penalties to win the Champions League in 2005.

Of that team, Jamie Carragher, Sami Hyypia, Jamie Carragher, John Arne Riise, Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso feature in Dudek’s XI. Michael Owen, who left Liverpool in 2004, also takes his place.

Dudek spent four years at Madrid, playing 15 times, but during that time he trained alongside some greats of the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas complete the rest of the team.

Much to the surprise of us all, there’s no room for Florent Sinama Pongolle or Laurent Faubert, sadly.

Liverpool kick off their Premier League campaign with a tricky opener at Arsenal next weekend, also travelling to Burnley and Tottenham before their first home fixture against champions Leicester on September 10. The run of three away games will allow ongoing construction work at Anfield to be completed by the time Claudio Ranieri’s men visit Merseyside.
