Jamie Redknapp compares Harry Kane to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi
High praise for England's captain
Harry Kane has come a long way in the past few years; from being loaned to Millwall to having the nation's hopes resting on his shoulders. He is Englands's talisman and relishes the role of being captain and carrying that responsibility.
Jamie Redknapp believes he is similar to the world's two best players in the world, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, in the sense that he leads by example.
Speaking to Sky Sports News after filming A League of Their Own, Redknapp said: "He is our Messi, our Ronaldo. He is the talisman, the person we will be looking at to score and to make that difference.
"He is leading by example. He is the player that everyone is talking about - wherever you go at the moment, people from all around the world.
"He has gone to another level and elevated his game. Not only that but as a person and everyone thinks he is one of the best players in the world now - he is in the top five and things can only get better."
There are certainly parallels between Kane and Ronaldo in the sense that they have both worked extremely hard to exert every ounce of quality from their natural ability. And comparisons with Messi do not allude to a similar skillset, but a similar level of importance in the team.
Harry Kane will lead England out tomorrow against Colombia and will be hoping to build on the five goals he has bagged already at this World Cup.
