Jamie Carragher lands a cheeky dig on Gary Neville when asked for his favourite moment of 2016

Jamie Carragher, Jamie Redknapp and Thierry Henry were on Sky Sports’ Friday Night Football.

Ahead of the Premier League game between Hull City and Everton, the three pundits engaged in a quiz about football in 2016  and were asked for their fondest football memory of the year.

All three selected Leicester City winning the Premier League as their favourite moment of the year… well, almost.

Carragher had first opted for a different choice – Gary Neville’s tough time as Valencia manager before being sacked back in March.

Carragher’s Sky Sports colleague was appointed Valencia manager last December, but didn’t win a game until February and was sacked the following month. During his spell in Spain, Neville endured a 7-0 loss to Barcelona and has since suggested that he’s unlikely to return to management.

This wasn’t even the first time on Friday that Carragher had taken the piss out of Neville’s time at Valencia.

The former Liverpool defender tweeted this earlier after news broke that Cesare Prandelli had stepped down as manager of Valencia, who appear to be a complete mess and are looking for their fourth manager in a year.

Carragher’s gag got a shocked laugh in the Sky studio.

The former Liverpool defender said not to worry, that Neville wouldn’t have heard his gag because he was preparing to commentate on the game. Co-host Rachel Riley reminded Carragher that Gary would find out about the gag via Twitter, and she was right…
