It was confirmed this week that Arsenal would not be retaining his services

Jack Wilshere could be on his way to another London club after West Ham United expressed an interest in signing the Arsenal midfielder.

The North London club confirmed this week that they would not be keeping the central midfielder at the club, with years of injury trouble and mixed form clearly influencing the decision of manager Unai Emery.

Wilshere spent part of the 2016/17 season on loan at fellow Premier League side AFC Bournemouth, where he impressed at times, but struggled to truly impress during his spell at the Vitality Stadium.

News of West Ham’s interest in the England international – who was left out of Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup – comes after the midfielder posted an emotional video on social media commemorating his 17 years at Arsenal, begninning as a youth footballer.

Speaking to talkSPORT, former Arsenal mifielder Ray Parlour said that a move to West Ham could be good for Wilshere, especially given the fact that he is still relatively young.

“He knows what it’s like to play for Arsenal and it’s a big decision he’d made to leave the club,” said Parlour.

“After I left the club there were two players I always saw who stood out as youngsters and I thought they would go on and have unbelievable careers – one of them was Cesc Fabregas and the other was Jack Wilshere. He wasn’t fazed by anything but his injures have just taken their toll.

“Jack needs to play football – he’s 26 years old, there’s no good him sitting on the bench or in the stand.”
