Jake Paul has ridiculous excuse for not beating Tommy Fury

Jake wants a rematch

Jake Paul said he “makes no excuses” for his loss to Tommy Fury, but then went on to say he got sick during his build up and had an injured arm.

Tommy, the brother of heavyweight champion Tyson, beat the YouTuber-turned boxer in a split points decision at Diriyah Arena, in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia on Sunday Night.

Despite knocking Tommy, 23, down in the eighth round, Jake, 26, left the arena with a blemished record.

One judge scored the bout 75-74 to Jake, with the other two scoring it 76-73 to Tommy, who is now nine for nine fights.

Speaking after the fight, Jake was gracious in defeat, saying, “All respect to Tommy, he won,” but adding, “I think we deserve that rematch.”

He then went on to speak about his less than perfect build-up to a fight that was put off twice.

“I don’t know if I agree with the judges. I got a 10-8 round twice… I felt flat, I got sick really bad twice in this camp, injured my arm. But I lost, I’m not making excuses.”

But the fighter ended on a positive note, signalling this isn’t the end of the road for him: “Don’t judge me by my wins, judge me by my losses. “I don’t know if I agree with the judges, it is what it is but that is the boxing world.”

Tommy, was in tears, as his arm was raised.

“For the past two years this is all that has consumed my life,” an emotional Tommy said on BT Sport.

“Everybody thought I was running scared but tonight I made my own legacy.”

After dedicating the fight to his new-born baby daughter, Bambi, Tommy added: “This is my first main event, I am going to get bigger and better and if he wants a rematch, bring it on.”

Despite taking him the win, Tommy cost his big-brother, Tyson Fury £100,000.

The heavyweight champion had bet Tommy would stop Jake from going the distance, something he never did.
