ITV commentator starts World Cup by saying this ridiculously disrespectful thing about Fiji

Robert Redmond

This isn’t a very clever thing to say.

ITV commentator Nick Mullins has come under fire for making a very disrespectful remark about Fiji before their game against hosts England in tonight’s Rugby World Cup opener.

The commentator was heard saying: “They’ll be back in Fiji around one television hoping the generator doesn’t fail them.”

Fiji is a collection of islands in the South Pacific with a population of 858,038, so that must be a very, very big television they’re reportedly huddled around.

Or that this is how Mullins imagines life in the country.

Needless to say, this piece of commentary didn’t go down well on Twitter.

Mullins’ description of the English maul was also met with disapproval.
