Van Gaal has reportedly struck a deal to rent an apartment in Bowdon but has refused to commit to renting the property for six months.
This means that the Dutchman will have to pay more than the advertised £3,000 a month rent, with The Sun claiming he will pay £4,500.
Could it be a sign that van Gaal isn't expecting to be sticking around much longer? Possibly, but we're not sure many United fans will be rushing out to buy their Jose Mourinho scarves on the strength of it.
