Irish striker suffers one of the most gruesome finger injuries we’ve ever seen

It's almost come off completely...

Paul Moore

Holy Jesus.

Irish Premier Division side Finn Harps were already facing a difficult end to the League of Ireland season as they currently lie five points above the relegation playoff spot with five games remaining, but their prospects look that little bit worse after striker Kevin McHugh suffered one of the most gruesome injuries that we’ve seen.

The Donegal side are currently tenth in the League of Ireland table – 11 points clear of automatic relegation but only five points ahead of Wexford Youths in the race  to avoid the promotion/relegation playoff against the First Division runners-up – and it’s very likely that they’ll have to do without the former Derry City and Linfield for the rest of the season after he suffered this gruesome injury.

According to his Twitter account, McHugh got his wedding ring got caught while climbing a fence – almost severing the finger completely.

The striker was immediately taken to Galway Hospital and he seems that his health is good enough to provide some updates on his condition.

McHugh shared a particularly grim photo of the immediate aftermath with his Twitter followers, and it’s seriously not something we advise you to look at if you’re in any way squeamish.

We wish him a speedy recovery.

Such was the gruesome nature of the injury, some people thought that it might be fake.

Unfortunately it isn’t.
