INFOGRAPHIC: The worst big-money deadline-day signing has been revealed

There have been plenty of rumours doing the rounds about last-minute signings from the Premier League’s elite.

So far, those towards the foot of the table have been the biggest spenders, with Bournemouth, Newcastle and Sunderland all keeping busy.

But recent years have seen plenty of clubs splash out huge money to save, strengthen or sustain their season.

This infographic from fantasy football site Football Fanager ranks the six most expensive deadline day attacking arrivals since the Premier League introduced transfer windows in 2002.

And the comparison of the pounds-per-goal records of Fernando Torres, Andy Carroll, Robinho, Dimitar Berbatov, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez doesn’t make pleasant reading for Carroll.

The England striker scored six league goals for Liverpool after his £35m move from Newcastle United, and his return of £5.83m per goal is the worst on the list by some distance.
