What a moment. What a f*cking moment.
It may sound like hyperbole, but Hal Robson-Kanu genuinely scored a goal that Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Pele, Diego Maradona or whoever would be honoured to have produced.
It really was that good. It is a finish that will be replayed for all eternity as one of the truly great international tournament goals.
It should be sealed into a container with the works for Shakespeare, music of Mozart and paintings of Picasso for future civilisations to discover. This is what we were capable of, alien beings, this was human endeavour at its very peak.
Cushioning the ball from a right-wing pass, Robson-Kanu had the sheer audacity to confound three Belgium defenders at once with a Cruyff turn that was perhaps the best in history – even the one Johan showcased didn’t result in a goal.
Utterly utterly sublime…
