God advises Adebayor not to join Aston Villa

It has emerged that Emmanuel Adebayor's expected transfer from Spurs to Aston Villa was scuppered by God.
The 31-year-old was on the verge of agreeing a move to Villa Park on Tuesday afternoon, but he kiboshed the deal at the last minute because he felt that God, aged infinity, did not approve. The Telegraph report that the Lord Almighty advised Adebayor via the striker's pastor. A year remaining on his lucrative £100,000-a-week contract is also said to have been a factor. Divine intervention comes as a blow to Tim Sherwood, who was hoping to recruit his former player to replace another Christian (Benteke) at the Villains.
