It’s not often that a goalkeeper can walk away from a 7-0 defeat with their head raised high, but Gibraltar’s Jordan Perez put in one hell of an effort against Germany on Saturday.
Despite trailing the world champions by just one goal at half-time, Gibraltar suffered the third 7-0 defeat of their debut qualifying campaign.
However, professional fireman Perez did his best to fight off the German onslaught of 16 shots on target — and even saved a penalty from Bastian Schweinsteiger.
Perez certainly seems to be improving, putting the calamitous own goal he scored against the Republic of Ireland in October behind him.
