Gary Neville’s favourite Premier League manager may come as a surprise

Tom Victor

Former Manchester United captain is not afraid to upset fans of his former club when naming his Premier League favourites.

The player-turned-pundit identified Manchester City’s David Silva as his stand-out player in the top-flight, and his favourite manager in the league isn’t the obvious choice either.

Writing in the Daily Telegraph, Neville admits that he considers Jose Mourinho to still be the best coach in the division, but his favourite is Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

‘Ask me who I would model myself on as an aspiring coach right now and in a flash I would give you the name of Mauricio Pochettino,’ Neville writes.

‘Looking at Pochettino’s work over the last 18 months, though, there is not one negative word I could use. There is nothing to dislike.’

Tottenham are unbeaten in the league since their opening-day defeat to Manchester United, and can move into the top four with victory over Mourinho’s Chelsea.
