Gary Neville announced as the new Valencia head coach

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has been named as the new head coach of Spanish club Valencia for the rest of the season.

His brother Phil had taken the reigns at Valencia on a temporary basis, and will continue to work with the club now that Gary has taken over. Valenca currently sit in ninth place in La Liga with 19 points after 13 games - 14 shy of league-leaders Barcelona, who Valencia face on Saturday. Neville will take over on Sunday, which means his first match will be Valencia's final Champions League group game against Lyon, where the Spanish side currently trail Belgian club Gent by one point for the final qualification spot.
