Gary Neville hits out at “obsession” with transfers in emotional interview (Video)

As someone who benefited from Sir Alex Ferguson's faith in youth, Gary Neville's latest comments should not come as a surprise.

The Valencia coach defended his current squad, including youngsters coming through the ranks, while criticising what he described as an "obsession" with new signings. "We've been obsessed in football with who we're going to sign, who we'd like to sign, who's not here," he said ahead of Los Che's league game against Getafe. "This obsession with players who are not at the club is something that I find very difficult to get used to. Maybe I'm a traditionalist who believes that you can improve players that you have," he added. "It's something I don't like about modern football at all. Forget Valencia, this can be the Premier League, it can be the French league, Bundesliga, La Liga.
