Gary Lineker suggests where mic will go whilst presenting in his pants

Let him be brief

What has he let himself in for…

You can say what you like about Gary Lineker, but he is certainly a man of his word. His now notorious wager to present Match Of The Day in his briefs if Leicester City won the Premier League is something that has been hanging over his head all summer like the Sword of Damocles; but credit to him, he’s sticking to it.

That’s right – the England all-time legend and voice of BBC football is going to appear on the channel’s flagship sports show in nothing but his undies. Something tells us that the viewing figures will be slightly bigger than normal, as the easily titillated and very curious tune in in their droves.

Ahead of the, erm…big reveal, Lineker was talking to Gavin Esler on BBC News 24 about how he had little option but to fulfil his regrettable promise, and made light of the logistics of going live on telly in his altogether. Of particular concern was where his mic should be clipped in the absence of a handy lapel.

After failing to clarify whether he’d be wearing briefs or boxers (and what colour they’d be), Lineker was asked, “I’m just trying to think where they’re going to put the microphone – if that’s not a rude question?”, to which replied:

“That’s a good point. Maybe they could just clamp it to one of my nipples or something…actually that’s just too weird to comprehend!”

Indeed it is, Gary. Indeed it is.
