Gary Lineker has perfectly timed reply to Donald Trump’s latest tweet

Paul Moore

Football fans will agree.

With the Premier League returning this weekend, now is the time when every football fan feels slightly optimistic about their team’s chances for the upcoming season. Yeah, let’s just give it a few months before 70% of football fans are pi**ed off with the performance levels of their team, players, manager etc.

Let’s face it. Most of us are hopelessly addicted to the misery.

This being said, happiness and positivity are currently engulfing the football-loving public, but it’s clear that Donald Trump isn’t in the same jovial mood.

The US president has taken to Twitter and warned North Korea that if it “acts unwisely” the US military is “locked and loaded”.

This stern warning came hours after China appealed to the US and North Korea “to be cautious with their words and actions” as tensions between both nations increase.

Trump added that “military solutions are now fully in place” before asserting his hope that “Kim Jong Un will find another path!”

The Defence Secretary, James Mattis, has previously said that any conflict on the Korean peninsula would be “catastrophic” while encouraging diplomatic resolution.

Earlier this week, President Trump threatened to unleash “fire and fury like the world has never seen” on North Korea if the regime continued to threatened the US.

With a full Premier League fixture list to enjoy – and a new episode of Game of Thrones – the Match of the Day host had the perfect reply.

Of course, we’re not trivialising the horrific potential that escalating hostilities between North Korea and the US can entail, but Linkeker’s response will certainly resonate with football fans that are happy to see the Premier League returning.
