Gary Cahill’s ‘kung-fu’ own goal against Man City is a sight to behold

The midday matchup between Manchester City and Chelsea was billed as a top of the table clash featuring the best that the Premier League has to offer. The likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, David Silva, Diego Costa and Sergio Agüero were sure to put on a show.

But alas all of those big names were put in the shade by the magical skills of centre-back Gary Cahill, who elevated his game to previously unseen levels with the first goal of the encounter. It was 45 minutes in coming, but well worth it.

With the half-time whistle a matter of seconds away, the England international latched onto a Jesus Navas cross from the right wing with sensational panache. Showing all the mobility of a kung-fu artist, he blazed the ball into the net in midair.

Sadly, it was past Thibaut Courtois into his own net to make it 1-0 to the home side, but no one will ever forget the most breathtaking finish that many have ever witnessed. That a moment, what a man, and what a goal…
