Gareth Bale’s agent brands Real Madrid fans ‘a disgrace’ following Clasico booing

Things aren’t looking good for Gareth Bale in Spain after the Welshman was booed off the pitch by his own supporters following his substitution in Saturday’s El Clasico, which Real Madrid lost 1-0.

The former Tottenham player has popped up relentlessly in the tabloids over the course of the last weeks with stories rife of him failing to learn the language and, even worse, keep poor old Marcelo company in the dressing room.

Bale’s form appears to have cratered as a result, meaning he was forced to listen to the audible disgust of the Bernabeu crowd after he was hauled off on the 62nd minute.

His agent, Jonathan Barnett, has now hit back at the grumpy Los Blancos’ supporters, calling their behaviour ‘nothing short of a disgrace’.

“This generation of Real fans will be talking about Gareth’s goals for years to come,” Barnett told Sky Sports. “Frankly, they should be ashamed of themselves.”

“Gareth deserves the greatest of respect. The way Real fans have treated him is nothing short of a disgrace.”

Bale was also accused of leaving the stadium after Madrid’s defeat before Santiago Solari had completed his press conference, however those rumours were quickly denied.

Vinicius Jr has now essentially cemented his place in the Madrid starting eleven ahead of the man Thibaut Courtois (not particularly liked by fans, either) has dubbed ‘The Golfer’. Despite this, Bale’s agent also continues to insist that his client will not be moving anywhere in the summer.

Given that the Spanish newspaper Marca said Bale’s attitude “bordered on professional negligence” after the game, and the fact that Real Madrid, historically, are prone to dumping even their best players on the metaphorical scrap heap, it doesn’t appear likely that the 29-year-old stays, no matter what his agent believes.

After all, this is Fiorentino Perez’s club. He will do as he pleases.
