Sure this would go down a treat at the Bernabeu…

Gareth Bale’s future is a hot conversation at this point after he announced he would be parting ways with Real Madrid at the end of his contract.

With the World Cup on the horizon, Bale is keen to keep fit as he bids to try and take Wales to glory in Qatar – and the forward hasn’t been short of offers.

Talks of a return to his homeland to play for Cardiff City have been mentioned, but it seems unlikely given that the 32-year-old is likely to still command a high wage.

On Tuesday it was reported that a move in Spain could be on the cards as LaLiga outfit Getafe were linked with Bale after their club president claimed that he had been ‘offered’ to them. However, the Welshman’s agent played down the reports and said ‘he doesn’t even have the president’s number.’

One of Real Madrid’s fiercest rivals have an interest in Bale

But now it seems that there is another Spanish club that are in the running to try and sign Bale, and this one may well cause controversy.

According to El Chiringuito, Madrid’s city rivals, Atletico Madrid, have registered an interest and that contact has been made between the two parties.

Bale’s relationship with the Madrid supporters was frosty at the best of times, so you can only imagine the uproar if he did move across the city to Diego Simeone’s side.

Bale enjoyed a successful spell with Madrid

In his nine years at the Santiago Bernabeu Bale enjoyed a successful spell, winning five Champions Leagues, three La Liga titles, three UEFA Super Cups and three Club World Cups and a Copa del Rey in his first season where he scored a famous winning goal.

The Wales captain also boasts an impressive 106 goals in 258 appearances at the club.

At the rate it’s going, surely it’s only a matter of time before Barcelona make a move considering they’ve been linked with every player under the sun this summer.
