Fury Joshua fight thrown into doubt by promoter feud

Tyson Fury claims ego is putting the biggest fight in boxing at risk

The two heavyweights are due to meet at the Principality Stadium on 11 December, with a London press conference scheduled for Wednesday.

However, Fury said on Saturday that Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn are now threatening to walk away from the bout.

The disagreement reportedly centres on Dana White, who has been named as a promoter alongside The Ring.

Hearn, chairman of Matchroom Sport, has questioned White's involvement in the event. The Ring is owned by Saudi businessman Turki Alalshikh.

Fury blamed Hearn for the latest problems, accusing him of allowing “ego” to get in the way and claiming the promoter had jeopardised “the biggest fight in boxing history”.

The proposed bout has already survived years of delays.

A 2021 arbitration ruling forced Fury to face Deontay Wilder for a third time, despite an existing agreement involving Joshua, while several venues were considered before Cardiff was finally confirmed.

Fury has now suggested he could look elsewhere if Joshua withdraws, telling him to “pull your finger out”.

For the moment, the fight remains scheduled for 11 December, but its future appears uncertain following Fury's claims.
