French police have resorted to using water cannons on football fans in Marseille to quell unrest

After 48 hours of violent scenes in Marseille, police have now start using water cannon on football fans.

The measure has been taken after the use of riot police and tear gas has failed to put a stop to fighting and rioting in the city. https://twitter.com/tomwhite7/status/741674975061499906 There have been violent scenes in the city since Friday following clashes involving Russian fans, England fans, and French locals in Marseille. At the end of the game Russian fans broke through the tarpaulin segregating the fans to charge and attack a number of England supporters.

Russia's Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko said he was expecting Uefa to announce it would fine Russia. "We behaved incorrectly," R-Sport news agency reported him as saying before adding there were "many nuances" to what happened, and Russian officials would investigate. It is expected  Uefa sanctions will be decided at a disciplinary meeting on Tuesday. At time of writing, it is believed Uefa have begun disciplinary proceedings against Russia for the crowd disturbances, but no charges have been made towards the English FA. https://twitter.com/RobHarris/status/741931249451847680
