Frank Lampard’s job in danger as Chelsea look at replacements

Lampard’s time as Chelsea boss could be up very soon

Frank Lampard is reportedly at serious risk of losing his job as Chelsea manager with the club’s hierarchy looking at potential replacements.

Despite spending big in the summer, Chelsea have hit a difficult patch in recent weeks, with the 3-1 humbling at the hands of Manchester City on Sunday afternoon heaping more pressure on the 42-year-old.

According to The Athletic, the club are already looking at alternatives in case Lampard is unable to turn things round in the near future.

Though the same report adds that there is still a possibility he remains at the helm for at least the remainder of the season, it comes days after Thomas Tuchel – recently dismissed by Paris Saint-Germain – was linked with taking charge at Stamford Bridge by German media.

Chelsea now lie in eighth in the Premier League table, seven points adrift of league leaders Liverpool having played a game more. Despite being just three points off the Champions League positions, there are said to be concerns from the the club’s board at the team’s recent form and the failure of Timo Werner and Kai Havertz to adapt since their high-profile summer moves to Stamford Bridge from the Bundesliga.

Chelsea will now turn their attention to the FA Cup third round, where they face Morecambe, before returning to league action with a local derby against Fulham on January 15.
