Dunk would not have wanted to mark his top flight debut with an own-goal for his hometown club, and sympathy was in short supply amongst Brighton's opposition.
Benjamin Mendy, who joined City from Monaco during the summer, missed Saturday's game with a thigh injury, but found Dunk's misfortune to be pretty funny.

Mendy was right, as it actually was a bullet header, but Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard found his tweet to be in poor taste.
The BT Sport pundits felt Mendy was wrong to publicly mock another player's error, as a time will come during the season when he makes a big mistake of his own.
