Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott sentenced and jailed for child sexual abuse

He was sentenced today.

Last month, the 49-year-old was found guilty on two charges of "lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards two children," as he was tried in a Glasgow High Court in regards to the allegations.

The two charges of lewd and libidinous behaviour were reportedly towards a girl and a boy between 1993 and 2010.

Dott denied any wrongdoing but was found guilty by the Glasgow court.

Dott has been held on remand in prison since being found guilty before being sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh today (Tuesday 29 September).

The former snooker player was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Before delivering sentence, the judge Lord Harrower told the court each child was vulnerable and Dott's behaviour towards them "bore the classic hallmarks of grooming".

Dott maintained his innocence, with the judge noting that he cannot take into account any remorse or insight into his offending.
