Chelsea were leading 1-0 at the time after Antonio Rudiger's first-half header extended Thomas Tuchel's side's lead to 3-0 on aggregate.
Tottenham themselves had two penalty shouts correctly ruled out by VAR after Pierre-Emile Højbjerg was adjudged to have been fouled outside the box, whilst a shout for a penalty for a foul on Lucas Moura was quickly overturned after footage showed Kepa Arrizabalaga clearly winning the ball.
Harry Kane was also denied the chance to reach 250 goals after his consolation goal was ruled out for offside.
With just moments of the game to go however, referee Andre Marriner was alerted to a problem in the stands, which the medical staff dealt with.
Played was paused for several minutes, however Marriner deemed the game fit to continue with eight minutes of stoppage time as Chelsea secured their place at Wembley in comfortable fashion.
Tottenham then later confirmed that the supporter had received treatment from the medical team inside the ground.
