Thomas Tuchel has claimed that the ongoing takeover talks at Chelsea have been a distraction to his players as the Blues struggle for form.
Chelsea’s results have taken a dip in the past few weeks, most recently surrendering a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend – meaning they still require four points from their last three games to secure Champions League qualification.
However, after lengthy negotiations it was confirmed that Todd Boehly will become the club’s controlling owner as the US magnate consortium completes their £4.25bn acquisition of the Blues from Roman Abramovich.

Tuchel said that the takeover talks have been ‘a distraction’ for Chelsea
But ahead of his side’s game against Leeds United, Tuchel admitted that the uncertainty surrounding the take over in recent months has taken its toll on the players.
“It has for sure, I don’t think there’s any sense in hiding from the fact that it is a distraction,” he said. “It’s a question of to which level we can still live up to even if we are distracted, worried or disadvantaged by it.
“These are positive signs and it feels like it’s coming to an end which will give us the possibilities to act [in the summer transfer market] but right now, we’re not yet at that moment.”
🗣️ "We're the only club in the moment who suffers like this and maybe the first club who ever did this."

The German then sensationally claimed that no other club was going through what Chelsea are going through. Supporters of the likes of Birmingham City, Derby County, Scunthorpe United, Oldham Athletic and a host of others would likely have something to say about that.
“We’re the only club at the moment who suffers like this and maybe the first club who ever did this,” he added. “It’s a situation that’s unique and quite challenging. Of course, everyone wants it to be clarified.
“These are steps in the right direction. We’ve been waiting for it for a long time because we need the positive energy and the competitive atmosphere as a club. That’s why it’s very important that things progress.”
