The 39-year-old has been linked with a return to Brazil
Thiago Silva’s wife has all-but-confirmed where the defender’s future lies.
Silva played in Chelsea’s FA Cup semi final defeat against Manchester City on Saturday but has been reduced to a bit-part role this campaign.
With his contract expiring in the summer, the 39-year-old is expected to leave Stamford Bridge and his wife Belle seems to have dropped a major hint.
Silva set to leave Chelsea in summer
Posting on social media, the defender’s wife was snapped holding a Chelsea scarf above her head in the seats at Wembley Stadium, captioning the photo with: “It [is] the last dance on [sic] Wembley.”
The defender was an emotional figure at full time and was spotted in tears after failing to help Chelsea reach the final, meaning that they will go another season without any silverware.
He also issued an apology to the fans, saying: “It is difficult to describe in words what I feel now. We are very sorry we didn’t make it, we left everything on the pitch. Proud of this group.
“Thanks to all of you for never leaving us.”
Silva leaves Chelsea with his head high
After joining on an initial one-year deal in 2020, Silva quickly established himself as a fan favourite and pledged his long-term future.
But with his career approaching it’s latter stages, it’s expected the 39-year-old will return to his homeland of Brazil and has been linked with clubs such as Flamengo.
Despite the speculation, Silva insisted earlier this season that he was relaxed about his future.
“I don’t have anything scheduled for later,” he said. “I’m just looking to have fun. We know [my career] is almost over, but it’s not the end yet, so pick the right time.
“Let’s finish well here, this and those four months and see what has to happen going forward. But I’m super relaxed about that.”
