Stacked with talent

England’s strength in depth is frighteningly good with just a matter of months to go before Euro 2024 kicks off.

Gareth Southgate has a pool of talent to pick from and with only 23 places up for grabs, it’s inevitable that some very talented players won’t be heading to Germany this summer.

But some England fans have been left gobsmacked after discovering a team sheet from an U15s game back in 2017 which has some unbelievable names among the list.

Current England first-team names feature in squad

Perhaps the most notable of names is one Jude Bellingham. Many were left shocked to only see him among the substitutes but you have to remember, back in 2017, the now-Real Madrid star was only 13. Yep, thirteen.

Chelsea duo Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke were also in the side. Palmer is the Premier League’s second top goalscorer after his four-goal haul in the Blues’ 6-0 win against Everton on Monday night – just one behind Erling Haaland in the ranking.

Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is another name in the team that played against a Belgium side featuring current Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku in.

Stars of other national teams also feature

As it common with international football, there are some players in that side who eventually went on to represent other countries at higher/senior level.

Jamal Musiala is the big example of this. Despite coming through the Chelsea academy and playing for the Three Lions at youth level, the Bayern Munich star opted to play for Germany instead.

Captain on the day, Yunus Musah, is now a product of the USMNT (United States Mens’s National Team). He started out at Arsenal before moving to Valencia in 2019 and is now a key member of AC Milan’s side.

Armstrong Oko-Flex now plays for the Irish international team and others have gone on to play for Scotland and Switzerland.
