Not the only time Mbappe was absent

Kylian Mbappe was left behind by his Paris Saint-Germain teammates after their defeat to Borussia Dortmund.

The German side won the first leg of their Champions League semi final 1-0 thanks to Niclas Fullkrug’s brilliant first half finish.

Mbappe played the full game but struggled to make an impact with his best opportunity coming early after the break, where he was denied by the post.

After the game Luis Enrique’s side made their way back to Paris however Mbappe was a notable absentee but now it has been revealed why.

Mbappe held back after game

French outlet Le Parisien revealed that the forward had been randomly selected to undertake a drugs test. As a result the 2018 World Cup winner joined up with his teammates later on at the airport before flying back to France.

Random drugs tests regularly take place after games and require those involved to stay behind and wait for the mandatory tests to be completed before leaving.

In what seems to be Mbappe’s final season at the club, the prospect of ending it on a high and finally winning the Champions League all hangs in the balance.

PSG’s underwhelming displays in Europe’s elite competition have led to frustrations from the club and it’s fans and it will only continue for as long as they go without the main prize.

Mbappe looks certain to move to Real Madrid in the summer and could end up going head-to-head with them in the final if they beat Dortmund and Los Blancos can overcome Bayern Munich.
