Surrey Police have confirmed that they will launch an enquiry after being informed of video of West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma kicking his cat.
Videos circulated across social media on Monday night and Tuesday morning of Zouma kicking and slapping his pet. Zouma has since apologised, while West Ham have "unreservedly condemned" his actions.

It was reported on Tuesday that the Metropolitan Police wouldn't investigate the matter, but Surrey Police have confirmed that they will launch an investigation and work alongside the RSPCA as part of their enquiries.
As per
Standard Sport, Surrey Police said: "Enquiries are underway after we received an allegation earlier today (February 8), in relation to an animal being abused at an address in north Surrey.
“The allegations were received after a video emerged over the weekend showing a cat being ill-treated.
"We are currently liaising with the RSPCA with a view to carrying out a joint investigation into the matter. Enquiries remain ongoing and we will provide further updates in due course."
Meanwhile Zouma's kit provider, adidas, have also confirmed that they would be launching their own personal investigation.
The sportswear brand said: "We are aware of a deeply upsetting video circulating online. No animal should be subject to cruel and unwarranted abuse, and we are investigating the incident internally."
