Steven Gerrard confused by what ‘eight-figures’ means in post-match Rangers interview

"Eight-figures!?!"

Ranger ploughed past Livingston 3-0 on Sunday with goals from Ryan Jack, Ryan Kent and Alfredos Morelos bringing Steven Gerrard's side within 3-points of league leaders Celtic. After the game, Gerrard was interviewed by Sky Sports - and got into a bit of muddle with some big numbers. With the transfer deadline looming, Gerrard was asked about Colombian striker Morelos, who was reportedly subject to an £8 million bid from French side Nice. In particular, he was asked what the club would do if an "eight-figure" bid came in for him. To which Gerrard replied: "Eight figures? One million?" One million - or 1,000,000 if we put it in digits - is a seven-figure number. The interviewer was referring to the supposed £8 million bid and suggesting that someone may offer £10 million or more for his services. The whole thing reminds us of the infamous "He's 28 until he becomes 29" debate between two Arsenal fans in 2015.
