Never change, Spurs

Antonio Conte was appointed as manager of Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, replacing Nuno Espirito Santo on an 18-month contract. The signing is quite the coup for Tottenham, especially considering the Italian turned down the opportunity to manage them back in the summer. However, amid the excitement of the announcement, as the club revealed Conte to their supporters, they somehow managed to mess it up and it didn't go unnoticed. According to Spurs' Twitter account, Conte had a change of nationality overnight and had become Spanish, as they captioned the obligatory 'holding a shirt' photo with the words: "Bienvenido a Tottenham Hotspur, Antonio Conte." No wonder he looked so unhappy in that welcome photo if his new employers can't even get his nationality right. As expected, the post was quickly deleted and however good this appointment may be, Tottenham still found a way to make everybody else laugh at them as fans caught onto the rookie error. Alex Turk said: "Only Spurs could Spurs up their own managerial announcement… Bienvenido is Spanish. Antonio Conte is Italian. So, so Spursy." https://twitter.com/AlexCTurk/status/1455503549471805440 Meanwhile another fan warned Conte that this is just the start of the crazy adventure that is Tottenham Hotspur. "The spurs official admin has just deleted the biggest manager announcement in our clubs history, this is what Conte is joining." https://twitter.com/Billie_T/status/1455502042458476548?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1455502042458476548%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailystar.co.uk%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Ftottenham-new-manager-antonio-conte-25358052 Meanwhile rival fans also piled in on the banter with one Arsenal fan tweeting: "Tottenham literally did this. Announced Antonio Conte with a Spanish caption. Seriously." https://twitter.com/PainInThArsenal/status/1455509890890403842 Then of course, there were people who weren't surprised at all by the shambles they had in announcing arguably one of the biggest managerial appointments in the club's history. It said: "Not sure there’s anything more Spurs than announcing the arrival of your new Italian coach in Spanish before hastily deleting it and reposting" https://twitter.com/TheSportSocial/status/1455507956351574017 Thankfully, for their sake, they managed to get it right second time round as the announcement video was captioned "Buongiorno Antonio..." https://twitter.com/SpursOfficial/status/1455504660949778433 Never change Tottenham, never change.
