Phil Thompson must have been joking with his Alexis Sanchez claim

There is no denying that Alexis Sanchez is one of the biggest earners in the Premier League but simply nobody is on £900,000 a week.

Not even the likes of Neymar, Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo are believed to be on that kind of money. We're all accustomed to hearing some outrageous claims on Soccer Saturday but surely Phil Thompson was joking when he announced that Sanchez was taking home £900,000 every week. So that's way off the estimation of Thompson, who was visibly wound up by Jose Mourinho's recent assertion that Liverpool are attempting to buy their way to the top of the Premier League. "I think Liverpool are trying to buy the title, but when I say buying I mean 'buying' with amazing investment," Mourinho told Sky Sports.
