Non-League manager resigns days after club taken over by Bitcoin podcaster

Bedford FC were recently taken over by a bitcoin podcaster who wants to take them to the Premier League

A non-league football manager has resigned from his position just days after his side were taken over by a podcaster who specialises in bitcoin. Jason Goldman stepped down from his position at 10th tier side Bedford FC alongside his assistant manager Martin Wells after Peter McCormack took over the club. McCormack says he plans to use bitcoin to fund Bedford FC's path to the Premier League. Goldman released a statement on his Twitter account, thanking Bedford for the opportunity and explaining why he felt he could no longer continue in his role. He said: "I would like to announce my resignation as manager of Bedford FC with immediate effect. "Despite the exciting plans ahead, my coaching team and I feel that our positions have been made untenable by those now running the football club." Goldman then went on to add: "We wish the club and the new owner Pete all the best for the future and in his quest to bring Premier League football to Bedford." https://twitter.com/jay_goldy/status/1473377072219316229 During an interview with BBC Three Counties Radio last week, new owner McCormack outlined his vision for the club, which includes reaching the Football League. He said: "I always felt Bedford as a town could support a league club - we're a population of 134,000 people, so I always wanted to buy one of the local teams and have a go at trying to get them into the Football League.

"Absolutely this might not work, but if you're going to go out and do a project like this, I think you have to be ambitious, you've got to have big goals and I'm not going to take over a football club and say that my goal is two promotions.

"What kind of ambition is that?

"My ambition is to bring league football to Bedford, the town I'm from and the town I love, and to give something to the people around here. You have to have an ambitious target, I think it would be embarrassing not to say you want to do something good."

The new owner has also admitted he is considering changing the name of the club to Real Bedford at the end of the current season, with a Twitter account already created.
