New European Super League could be relaunched within next three years

Plans to relaunch the European Super League within the next three years have emerged again in order to combat the fear that English clubs are becoming too dominant. The Times have revealed a new dossier which has been sent to clubs claiming that the Premier League is "is outgunning all continental leagues" and the Champions League is being "increasingly dominated by English clubs" who are "backed by hedge funds, public investment funds, sheikhs, oligarchs." Despite this claim an English side has only won two of the last 10 finals with Real Madrid winning half of those. Additonally, the company behind the initial failed European Super League have recently appointed a new chief executive, Bernd Reichart, who claims they will relaunch the project again within three years. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus are all in support of the company, A22 Sports Management, and are involved in legal action with UEFA. England's 'big six' were the reason behind the downfall of the European Super League after they all pulled out due to widespread backlash and protests from supporters. An extract from the dossier says: "The English Premier League (EPL) is turning into a global Super League [and] is outperforming its continental rivals’ combined net spending on transfers. "This summer, EPL clubs spent €2.25 billion (about £1.9 billion), more than La Liga, Serie A, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 combined. These clubs are backed by hedge funds, public investment funds, sheikhs, oligarchs." They also claimed that newly-promoted Nottingham Forest's net spend of €160m "was more than the whole of Serie A, La Liga, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 (a total of 78 clubs) combined." After the demise of the first project, English clubs were forced to sign an agreement which would result in expulsion from the Premier League should they sign up to a similar idea again.
